“You remind me of my friend Bethany. You look like her and have the same voice. She’s in that band Best Coast. Ever heard of them?”
Of course I’ve heard of them and I loved their first album. I took it as a compliment. Bethany’s a talented babe who apparently shares my love of all things California, cats and weed. She must have screamed a lot as a child too if she has a “raspy” voice like me.
I’ve been looking forward to Best Coasts new release and finally had a listen. Sophomore albums can be difficult, especially when your band has a tremendous amount of hype and pressure to produce quality tunes in a short amount of time. The new album is good, but not as rocking as the first. I like it, but I can’t help but think it sounds like Rilo Kiley out takes.
So last night, rather than give her album another listen, I put on some Rilo Kiley and let my thoughts drift to when I lived in Europe and traveled to Paris to see Rilo Kiley and Bright Eyes. I was 22 and everything was dreamy.
This morning I got a text from my bf saying he got us tickets to see Desaparecidos. My life has come full circle and my 22 year old self would be proud. 2012: The Year of the Reunion Tour!
